What Is a Cross-Game?

When watching any type of media, it is easy for viewers to create expectations based on the past. This often leads to the feeling of being disappointed when something doesn’t live up to expectations. Cross Game is a shounen which shows that even an uncomplicated story about love and baseball can lead to a a beautiful ending.

The main characters are all unique in their own way, from the four sisters who live down the street to Ko’s best friend Daiki. This small cast is what makes the whole show so unique capable of bringing a sense of personality and ambiance to every scene that they appear in. Their character traits allow them to tackle the themes of love and death effortlessly giving them a more empathetic impression than you’d think of from a standard shonen.

Cross Game is unique in that it knows how to concentrate its attention. The characters are well-developed, but there’s not much drama why not try here or surprises in every episode. This lets the viewers really enjoy the growth of the relationships without being overpowered by the need for greater emotional tension or a plot that is constantly trying to shock the viewer with new twists and cliffhangers. Cross Game is a wonderful film since it avoids all of these pitfalls. The genre could benefit from a lot more of this.
