What is Cloud Computing?
April 23, 2024 12:00 am Leave your thoughtsCloud computing lets you transfer the heavy lifting and crunching of data from your device to huge computer clusters that are located in cyberspace. You can access these massive computers via the Internet. This allows you to access your files applications, programs, and development tools from any location. This lets you perform more effectively on your laptop in a congested train car or at a conference table.
The cloud also ensures that your work remains accessible even if your office loses power. This is because it stores a copy of all your data and applications. This is the reason why many of the largest companies in the world have moved to the cloud and have rigorously tested its performance and protections.
There are a variety of cloud deployment models and services. They are typically categorized into four service models: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Serverless/Function-as-a-Service (FaaS). Cloud computing and “cloud” are frequently used interchangeably. However it is essential to know the differences between IaaS, PaaS, and FaaS so that you can determine which cloud deployment model is best suited to your needs.
IaaS is a cloud-based service that lets you rent a full array of hardware, including firewalls, servers and virtual machines by a cloud provider. This is a great option for companies who create specific or proprietary applications that need servers to be maintained and managed but don’t wish to invest time or money purchasing, storing and establishing their equipment.
